2017 SUMMER READING REQUIREMENTS

K and Pre-1st – Read 10 picture books of your choice with your parents.

First Grade – Read 10 picture books of your choice with your parents.

Second Grade – Read Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey and 10 books of your choice.

Third Grade – Read Flat Stanley, His Original Adventure! by Jeff Brown and 2 chapter books of your choice. Complete the assignment for Flat Stanley.

Fourth Grade – Read Homer Price by Robert McCloskey and 2 chapter books of your choice.  

Fifth Grade – Read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis and 2 chapter books of your choice.

Sixth Grade – Read Old Yeller by Fred Gipson and 2 chapter books of your choice.

 NOTE: Every 7-12th grade student will read a book for history and English.

Seventh Grade English and History – Read Okay for Now by Gary D. Schmidt and The Bronze Bow  by Elizabeth George Speare

Eighth Grade English and History – Read The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer and Carry On, Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham

Ninth Grade  English and History – Read A Separate Peace by John Knowles and I am Malala by Yousafzai and Lamb

Tenth Grade English – Read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and

Tenth Grade History – God and Churchill by Sandys and Henley

Tenth Grade AP World History – Follow instructions from your teacher.

Eleventh Grade English – Read Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

Eleventh Grade History – Out of the Depths: an unforgettable WWll story of survival, courage, and the sinking of the USS Indianapolis by Edgar Harrell and David Harrell

Eleventh Grade AP Language – Read all of Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer and the first 198 pages of Thank You For Arguing, Revised and Updated Edition by Jay Heinrichs
