April 2017 Scholarships

There are 3 sources to research and locate scholarships:

    • Local Scholarships – I publish those that come to CHS with updates about every 2 weeks. You can also find them on our website. Other examples for you to research are churches, parents’ employment, civic organizations, etc.
    • College Scholarships – can be found on each college’s website and are specific to each school. This takes research and time to do these applications but are required at some colleges to be eligible for their scholarships.
    • National Scholarships – These search engines ask you to fill out a profile and match scholarships to your particular profile. The search engines that I trust are:

Conasauga River Alliance Environmental Sciences Scholarship – $2,000 Scholarship over a four-year period awarded to a student meeting stated Guidelines and Eligibility. Guidelines:  Entries will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of Board Members of the Conasauga River Alliance.  Selection of the recipient will be based on the overall personal integrity, character, personal achievements, contributions to their community and school, and academic accomplishment. Eligibility:  Student must be from the Graduating Class of 2017 from an accredited high school located in the Tennessee Counties of Bradley and Polk, and the Georgia Counties of Murray and Whitfield.  Applicant must show proof of Admissions Application; or be enrolled in or attending a college or university with a desire of majoring in one of the Environmental Sciences. See Mrs. Poag for an application. Deadline to apply is April 14th.

Phil Bennett Memorial Scholarship – Available for seniors through Georgia Collectors Agency. Deadline to apply is 4/15. Call 423-304-0520 for more info. An essay on credit is required.  Apply at https://gacollector.sharepoint.com/Pages/Scholarship.aspx

2017 SACAC Extend the Dream Student Scholarship application is now LIVE!!!

High school seniors are encouraged to apply for one of the ten $1,000 scholarships we will be awarding this year! The application deadline is April 15 and winners will be chosen by mid-May.  For more information and to access the online application, please visit our Extend the Dream Scholarship page.

Danny Danzler Memorial Scholarship  – This scholarship is given to a senior who has devoted their time and talents to the ACT.  See Mrs. Poag for application. Deadline to apply is April 21st.

Whitfield County Farm Bureau Scholarship – For Seniors pursuing a profession in the field of agriculture, environmental science or family and consumer science. See Mrs. Poag for an application. Deadline to apply is April 21st. .

Millar and Mixon is now opening up scholarship applications to the students of your school. Entries are now accepted and can be submitted until May 1, 2017. This scholarship addresses technology and its impacts on driving.  You can view the scholarship information by visiting www.millarandmixon.com/scholarships . There will be a total of $3,500 in prizes awarded.

The David Skinner / Georgia Development Authority Scholarship Application –

Application due no later than May 1, 2017 – Mail to Georgia Development Authority, 1890 HWY 138 Monroe, GA 30655. See Mrs. Poag for an application.

Tobacco-Free Life – $8,000 in scholarships every year to students who share their stories of how quitting smoking helped them to change their lives and their views on how we can create a smoke-free world. StudySoup  – offering a $1000 Women in Technology student to one female student who is interested in pursuing a career in computer science. We want to make sure your students don’t miss their chance to apply!
